The OAFCS newsletter, The Lamplight, takes its name from the Betty Lamp, the symbol of the American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences. It is published three times a year with up-to-date information and upcoming events of interest to Family and Consumer Sciences members and non-members in related professions.

The Fall issue highlights descriptions of professional sections and subject matter divisions, district announcements, and a list of current officers and board members. The Winter issue includes profiles of nominees for upcoming elections. It also includes a concise overview of the up-coming Annual Meeting.

In the Spring issue, awards and recognition of outstanding contributions to OAFCS and the community are formally announced. In every issue, Jenny Schroeder, CFCS, provides thumbnail sketches of historic events from the 1920s to the present. Public Policy issues are reported to facilitate action on family-related legislation.
